Making wooden models of interesting structures and shapes inside narrow-necked glass bottles is a fond activity of John Kennedy, Pallippoika house, Kanjirakkod, Kundara, Kollam.  And all that he requires to cork the genie inside the glass is a 1-foot long thin rod with a bent tip.

Taj Mahal, Martyr’s column, temples and mosques, luxury liner etc. have been thus sealed inside the bottle by 32-year-old Kennedy.

The wooden models are completed outside and then cut into small pieces.  Using the thin rod, glue is applied to the inner wall of the glass.  The pieces of wood are then fixed to this base and built up.  As if brick by brick, the pieces are laid to complete the miniature structures.

Once the adhesive has dried, he applies finishing touch to the sculptures using aluminium foil, stickers, mica, glass paper etc.

Waste wood and liquor bottles are the raw materials for his art.  Even laboratory jars are sometimes used.  It takes about 10 to 15 hours of concentrated work to complete one piece.
