MALAYALI WOMEN WRITES HINDI-GERMAN DICTIONARY

Vasantha Sankar Narayanan, Belhavens Gardens, Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram.

A Malayali publishing a Malayalam-German dictionary would itself be worthy of appreciation.  But when Vasantha Sankar Narayanan writes a Hindi-German dictionary, the effort is all the more praiseworthy.

So how come her association with Hindi and German?

Vasantha’s husband Sankar Narayanan was engineer at Rourkela 26 years back.  At that time her neighbours were Germans.  She got acquainted with German at that time.  Later she was in Germany with her husband for 8 years.  At that time she did higher studies in German.  Later she published the Hindi-German dictionary which received the award instituted by ‘Rajastan Patak Manch’.

In addition, she is the Director of Sankar Education Trust in Rajastan.  The trust teaches the following languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Bengali, German, English and French.

During Navarathri festival, Vasantha and friends organize cultural shows which are quite popular in Rajastan.

Earlier Vasantha had won the 1st rank and gold medal in music from Kerala University.  She has won an award from the President for Veena recital.

This multi-faceted artist is the daughter of retired Chief Engineer V.V. Gopalakrishnan, Belhavens Gardens, Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram.
