UNIVERSITY DEGREE AT THE AGE OF 84

T.B.Swaminathan, Sai Krupa, Ayyanthol, Thrissur

If old age is second childhood, study on my boy!  And draw inspiration from the example of T.B.Swaminathan, Sai Krupa, Ayyanthol, Thrissur, who has obtained M.Phil degree in Mathematics from Madurai-Kamaraj University at the age of 84.

Swaminathan obtained graduate degree in Mathematics way back in 1938 from St.Thomas College, Thrissur.  In 1991, at the age of 75, he obtained M.Sc degree from Annamalai University.  And in 2001 he completed his M.Phil.

In 1940 Swaminathan entered Government service.  He worked for 6 years in Survey of India.  In 1947 he joined Income Tax Department and worked there till his retirement as Income Tax Commissioner in 1975.

During this time he even managed to obtain a Bachelor of Law degree from Mysore University.

Well-versed in Bengali and Sanskrit, Swaminathan has translated two Bengali novels into Malayalam.

He was the president of the Thrissur unit of Brahmin Sabha for 14 years.  Also, he has worked as district president of Bharathiya Vichar Kendra.

At present he is living with his eldest son Nagarajan.

If health permits, he would like to become a student of Sanskrit, he says.
