It was an announcement in the ‘Times’ daily that set 12-year-old Johny thinking of doing something different and unique.  The announcement promised prizes for students who make some effort of significance.

That set this 6th standard student from London thinking.  His choice: read 2000 books, big and small, within 2 years.  And with the success of his venture came the surprise gift from Disney World: flight ticket for the family to visit the fantasy land of Disney World.

3rd child of T.M.Jose and Jamma Jose, Johny set about the task methodically.  He read without sacrificing the time for his academic works by cutting down on the time devoted to watching TV.  He maintained handwritten reports on each book with a quote from the particular book.  He read all kinds of books, from small books to encyclopedia on specialized topics.

During school vacation, he even managed to read 10 to 12 books per day.  At the end of 2 years, the achievement was commendable.  So thought the judging committee.  And with the result, Johny, his father and brother could spend a week at Disney World.
