His first business was a failure.  Four years in the Middle East did not enrich him financially.  After coming back to his native place of Chathamangalam, Kozhikode, Sudheer started a small bag making unit and started his living.

But the son of Raman and Sulochana of Thamarath house could not just keep out social activism from his routine.  In his younger days Sudheer had seen his home the asylum for all kind of needy, whom his parents always welcomed.

Soon his attention turned to the increasing number of suicides in the society.  He boldly gave out his phone number as a possible help.  And many were the persons whom he brought back to life from the brink of spiraling despair.

Once he witnessed the sight of a person devouring food waste from a dustbin near a restaurant.  Sudheer racked his mind for a solution.  One day he left home with few food packets.  When he went to the city and offered the packets, many were the needy.  Soon with the help of well wishers Sudheer broadened the reach of this service.

It was during such rounds that one women of the street approached him to plead for a favour.  She did not want her child to grow up in the street.  Could Sudheer look after her?

With the consent of his family, Sudheer brought the child home.  Slowly, more and more mothers came forward to deposit their children in his care.

When the intention is noble, the wherewithal just appears.  A small rented house forms ‘Santhwanam’, where the 20 odd children now live.  A woman from Pathanamthitta stays with them teaches them. Their mothers are allowed to visit their children for two days a month.

Thus the endeavour of Sudheer continues…
