In the case of many retired persons, days, months and years hang around them heavily with no useful purpose being served by their acquired talent or innate abilities.  Sudhakaran of Puthiyangadi, Kozhikode, a retired railway employee is different.  He has spent many years after retirement perfecting a calendar that can easily tell you any day/date of any year.

As a surveyor serving in the army before he joined the railways, Sudhakaran had to prepare  a lot of charts and diagrams with days and dates.  His enthusiasm for calendars must have started from there.

After retirement, he decided to take up his dormant passion.  Sudhakaran, whose formal education is only up to matriculation was ready for the challenge.  He read books on the subject, consulted people in the know and even learned the use of computer to fulfill his mission.

The result, after years of corrections and improvisations, is a single sheet perpetual calendar.  He has further modified it to make a pocket-sized version also.

According to him, zodiac signs, Malayalam and Arabic Era dates etc can easily be incorporated into the system.

He has secured the copyright for his calendar.
