15-year-old Hanan Binth Hashim, who is already a Space School Graduate of NASA, is all set to join Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) next year, to pursue the study of her dream subject of theoretical astrophysics.

She had graduated from the NASA institute at Houston last year.  In addition, she has successfully completed a course in aeronautics at the NASA institute at Texas.  And she is a partner in the NASA design of a rover to be deployed on the surface of Mars.  Considering her talent, the MIT authorities had requested her to pursue her higher studies there.  And considering her abilities, this 10th standard student from Kozhikode has been exempted by the Central Government from appearing in the usual examinations.

Hanan, the younger daughter of L.P.M.Hashim and Aysha Manoli, developed an inclination towards science while in the 4th standard.  At that time she used to peruse the books of her elder sister who was in 12th standard.

This led to her interest in Einstein and the theory of relativity.

While she pursues her interest in the study of travel in outer space, she herself is a frequent traveler in India and abroad, mostly in connection with Astrophysical conferences.   Her presentations in India, Qatar and USA are in addition to this.

Her papers are to appear soon in the journals of Indian Institute of Astrophysics and American Institute of Theoretical Physics.
