For 1100 days he has been working without availing any leave or eligible weekly off.  This dedication to duty by Malayali Vijayan in Vadodara, Gujarat is set to find a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

Vijayan, who is a night time auditor at the Hotel Surya Palace in Vadodara, did not start his effort with the record in mind.  Like many Non Resident Malayalees, he too found the environment conducive to dedicate himself fully to the work at hand. His time of duty was from 11 pm to 9 am.

Although he stuck to his routine at the hotel all nights of the year, he did not show laxity in looking after the affairs of his family.  And therefore his wife Mridula has no complaints about her husband.  The owner of the hotel, Piyush Shah does not hide his happiness at finding such an employee who is committed and self-directed. In fact many a times Shah has advised him to take rest but to no avail.

After completing 1100 days of non-stop working, Vijayan contacted the Guinness authorities who sent him the necessary documentation requirements.

His daughter Bismi is working at Choice School, Kochi and his son Binoy is an Engineering student.

Perhaps his only tinge of regret would be that he could not visit Kerala for the last three years.
