16 years ago, Abdullah Sona lost major functionality of his right hand in a bus accident.  Undaunted, this acting president of the consumer protection forum at Thrissur has struggled with his disabled hand to achieve things like delivering record number of judgements, water divining, authoring books, and even trying a hand at painting and sculpture.

After he joined the forum as a member, it was able to dispose 1413 cases out of the 1690 filed during that year.  Sona had achieved this feat by employing councelling technique to mediate justice.

When he was the managing director of the State Handicapped Corporation, he organised medical camps to certify disabilities.  Thus many disabled persons were able to get these certificates which otherwise would have taken them years to obtain.

As this innovation was noted at the national level, the Chattisgarh government sought his services to hold such a camp at Raipur.  Similar camp was conducted at Delhi also, based on the request by a Central Minister.

His exit from the corporation in 2003 had its dramatic effect too.  A disabled person climbed atop the corporation building and threatened to commit suicide if Sona was not brought back to the helm of the body.

His writ petition to implement the central disabled rules in Kerala resulted in the direction by the High Court to implement the same throughout India within 3 months.

A not so well known talent of Sona is his water-divining ability.  He has so far fixed the location of atleast 50 wells including panchayat wells.  He does not accept any remuneration for this service.

Handwriting can often prise open the character of an accused.  Sona is versed in graphology too which he employs in courtroom on some occasions.

“It is not significant how many years one has worked, rather what matters is the quality of job that one has discharged,” he opines.
