39-year-old Subhash Menon, the founder of IT company ‘Subex’ often visits his alma mater, Vijayamatha School in Chittur, Palakkad, where he did his primary education.  An avid fan of the theatre, he had acted in many dramas while there. But the most memorable was a marathon drama of 3½ hours in which he had once acted.  The 18-scene play depicted the evolution of students into adults of different moulds.  While for all characters, there were different persons to act as student and adult, Menon acted in both roles, as he had a sufficiently good physique.

In a similar way perhaps, Menon pulled off another virtuoso performance recently, when his company negotiated one of the biggest take over of a foreign IT company by an Indian IT firm.  Assure Solutions of London was the biggest global revenue assurance company before it was acquired by Subex for Rs. 616 crore.   It was a move that was commented by NASSCOM, the national association of IT companies in India.  One may say that the Rs.100 crore profit company by Subhash had enough ‘physique’ to pull off the deal.

Subex, started in 1992, initially concentrated on telecom hardware system integration.  It was in 1999-2000 that it turned to the software field.

Menon completed his schooling from PMG School and did his Pre Degree from Government College, Chittur.  He went on to complete his B.Tech from REC, Durgapur before working for a few years in different companies at Delhi, Kolkatta and Bangalore.

Though he takes pains to visit his land atleast thrice a year, his personal unhappiness is the inability to attend the local festival Kongan Pada, celebrated in March every year.

Although he is into many charitable initiatives, he firmly believes that one hand should not know what the other hand gives.
