final year students of Automobile Engineering at Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram have designed an ‘Automatic Remote Automobile Accident Information and Trouble Diagnostic System’, which is capable of informing the police in case the vehicle fitted with it is involved in an accident.  Its diagnostic part senses the nature of trouble to the engine in case of vehicle break down and automatically alerts a service station so that the service personnel can proceed to the spot of trouble fully equipped.

It took Anoop Vijayan, Aravind Sadasivan, Afsal and Arun Gopi 4 months of dedicated effort under the guidance of Professor Chandrakumar to complete the prototype.

The system works by generating an SMS which is forwarded to the designated mobile numbers.  The device can be fitted on modern micro-controlled engines or what are called MPFI engines.  According to the students, the device is even capable of doubling as a burglar alarm over mobile phone.  Besides, it can be used for remote locking of the vehicle from any place inside Kerala.
