It is often those who have lost all hopes of survival that come to the doorsteps of ‘Gandhiji Naturopathy Hospital’ at Kanimangalam, Thrissur.  And a vast majority of them come back to life positive.

Started 20 years ago by Utpalakshan, Professor of Malayalam at Government Training College, Thrissur, and run now by his son Kalyan, the birth of the hospital is closely related to his own illness. 10 years before starting the hospital, the professor suffered from intense kidney disorder.  The doctors’ verdict was either dialysis or kidney transplant.  At that time, the only hospital capable of doing these treatments in he whole of South India was Velloor Christian Medical College.  And the chances of success was bleak.

It was at this point that he came to know about nature cure from Justice Narendran.  Professor underwent treatment for 1 month at Sharmas Nature Cure Sanatorium, Puthokkottai, near Trichy in Tamil Nadu.  Later he continued the treatment at home for another 3 years, at the end of which his kidneys became fully functional. He lived on for another 22 years.

This experience attracted him to naturopathy.  He learned the system under Dr.Thyagaraja Sharma and later tried to spread awareness about the treatment in different parts of Kerala.  It was when he felt that those who had lost all hopes due to illness need treatment directly under his supervision so that their confidence could be built up, that he started the hospital at Kanimangalam.

May be because he was a cronic kidney patient, 70% of those who approach the hospital are similar cases

The patients usually come after having exhausted their luck trying other systems of medicine.  Based on the diagnostic reports they carry, the treatment is done for a fortnight, after which fresh diagnosis is done to assess improvement.

Only about 5 to 10% fail to respond to any treatment at all.
