Recycling wastepaper collected from different parts of India, the Kunnath Paper Mills and its sister concerns at Palakkad produce about 50 tons of finished paper of different qualities per day.  These products, used as printing paper, writing paper, tissue paper, packing paper and card board are then sold to different printing presses, book binding centres etc.in India.  There is even export to Sri Lanka.

At the helm of affairs of this group of companies is K.T.Francis, one of the pioneers in the recycling of wastepaper in Kerala.  Started 27 years ago near Meenkara dam, his Paper Mills now employ 400 workers and provides livelihood to many others indirectly.  8 years before starting the Paper Mill itself, Francis was instrumental in bringing recycled paper from Tamil Nadu and supplying to the book binders in Kunnamkulam to produce cheaper notebooks.  Till then the notebooks were made from paper obtained from costly wood pulp.

85-year-old K.T.Francis guides the 3rd generation managers of the paper mills.
