Britco & Bridco, a private communication research institute of Malappuram, has come up with an automobile alarm system that can foil the potential thieves in many ways and which can be activated using the mobile phone of the owner.

Improvising on the existing alarm system, the company has developed the Mobile phone Automobile Security System (MASS), which is a tiny device planted inside the car and which maintains link with the owner’s cellphone.  “More than the security of the vehicle, my objective is to trap the thief,” says Hamza Anchumukkil, chairman and head of the department of Research and Development of the firm.  And towards this end, a host of features are built into the novel device.

MASS alerts owner with and alarm and informs him through SMS about the nature of the burglary.  It can record the conversation of the thieves or make it available live for the car owner.  Car owner can even engage in a conversation with the burglar or even alert the public through hidden loud speaker.  It also helps the owner to honk the horn, lock doors and apply centre-lock, all remotely over the phone.

If these features aren’t enough, MASS also provides you with control over the engine.  The owner can switch off the engine of his moving vehicle, trapping the burglar inside locked doors.  The vehicle cannot be restarted by any means until the owner keys in the secret password in his mobile phone.

The device, which has been tested successfully, has already got several enquiries.
