The half-acre plot of mixed crop cultivation adjacent to the house or the couple of country boats seen behind the house in the Meenachal river do not give a clue to the profession of the occupant of the house.  Perhaps only the odd ambulance standing in the courtyard suggests that this is the house of a doctor-couple.

Dr.P.R.Kumar, who runs 2 hospitals at Parippu and Aymanam, is as happy to handle the stethoscope, as he is to handle the shovel or the oar.  Sporting a towel as turban he spends time each morning among the crops in his compound.  Besides he still carries a childhood attraction for boat race.  Last year he was the captain of the boat from Aymanam Boat Club that won the 2nd prize in the famous Nehru Trophy Boat Race.

Even in arranging free medical camps, the doctor is in the forefront.  Besides, his contribution was significant in the renovation of the Punnathurayil road in Aymanam Panchayat.

From 6 in the morning till 11 at night, Dr.Kumar is busy with either his hospitals, agriculture, upkeep of boats or service activities.

His wife T.R.Radha, who is a pediatrician in Medical College, Kottayam extends all support for his varied interests.  His sons Rohit and Sarath too are with the father both in agriculture and boat race melas.
