Nobody in Kerala had converted a rubber estate into a tourist resort.  Worse, Baby Thampy had never seen any resorts.  Nor had she the assistance of any architect.  And yet when she converted her home into Chamundy Hill Resort in 8 months, the effort fetched her the Olive Leaf category award in 2003 for the ayurvedic treatment infrastructure available there.

But then what prompted her to resort to such a venture?  It was literally a suggestion in her dream.  As she lay in bed, slowly emerging from an unknown but debilitating condition, she had a dream.  In the dream the words, ‘Chamundy Hill Palace Ayurvedic Resort’ flashed before her eyes.  The impact of the dream prompted her to earnestly request her husband to give the green signal to convert their home into a resort.  Her husband agreed, but insisted that Baby should shoulder the responsibility to convert her dream into reality.

And so she started the work.  Though she had no assistants, the power that prompted her in the dream prompted her further also.  And thus she was able rearrange and remodel the rooms.  For example, a visitor will have to be shown evidence to convince him that the bedroom he is sleeping in was earlier the kitchen.  In a similar way the 3-storied building was converted into 17 rooms.  The room atop the tree, the open-air restaurant supported on a single bamboo pole etc add their own charm to the structure.

But more than all that would be the loving service of Baby Thampy whose husband died sometime ago.  Besides adding more facilities for customers, she insists on preparing atleast one dish for them herself everyday.
