For him blood donation has been a way of life. Starting from his college days in 1977, 50-year-old Dr.K.Mohan Das has so far donated blood 71 times, although he has kept records of the deed for 67 times only.

It was the appeal of the teachers that first prompted him to make the noble gift. Slowly he gathered his friends and college-mates into the blood donation scheme. Their activities, in synchronisation with the NSS unit, soon spread to the hospitals. When the hospitals urgently needed blood, they could depend of University College, Thiruvananthapuram where he studied.

Even after he joined as Project Officer at the Centre for Adult Continuing Education and Extension in 1989, his blood donation habit has continued. He now does this activity in coordination with the Sri Chitra Centre, Thiruvananthapuram.

On the World Blood Donation Day this year, he was honoured at the Sri Chitra Centre.
