Babu, a traffic policeman, who single-handedly tried to save an accident victim when the other passengers mere stood like witnesses, has been presented with a cash award by the Director General of Police for his exceptional call of duty.

Babu heard the sound of the motorbike knocking down an old woman in front of the Accountant General’s Office, Thiruvananthapuram and immediately alerted the police ambulance.  Although the victim, an old woman of 60 was lying on the road for about 15 minutes, no onlooker was willing to help her.

At last, when the police vehicle arrived, Babu single-handedly lifted her into the ambulance and took her to the hospital.

Although the woman died, the exemplary work of Babu is being acknowledged by the Department.
