Sitting in their one-room shop cum development centre, brothers Venugopal and Vijayakumar are scheming ways to outfox burglars.  And in 3 years time, these 10th -standard-failed innovators from ‘Padmalayam’, karayankad, Vadakkanchery, Palakkad, have come up with devices to prevent theft of motorcycles and cars as well as to prevent burglary at homes and shops.

Their first device, meant for the motorcycle, could be hid below the seat.  Its working was such that if the vehicle was moved by any means other than by the original key, then the alarm will sound.  The development of this device gave them confidence.

Their second challenge was prevention of burglary at shops.  Here they developed a small device to be kept below the shutter.  If attempt is made to break the shutter or use a burglar’s key to open the shutter, the alarm will sound within 8 seconds.

The third device was to prevent theft from houses.  Here the sensors detect even slight manipulation of front or back door and will trigger the alarm and lights and a voice recorder in addition to intimating a predetermined number through telephone.  Any attempt to tamper with the device or cut the wire connecting the sensors will also activate the alarm.

Their fourth item was to help taxi drivers subjected to the threat of vehicle lifters masquerading as passengers.

Based on their work in this field, they had been invited to the Dubai Festival.  But financial constraints forced them to let go the opportunity. They are now attempting to market security products in collaboration with other companies.
