Customisation of hardware, like changing the skin of mobile handset is seen often.  But changing an old Contessa car to look like a high end Mercedes Benz is what Janees, an enterprising entrepreneur from Thrissur has done.

At the end of 2 years and an expense of Rs.2 lakhs, his old Contessa car looks like a Rs.30 lakhs Mercedes E Class old model that would cost Rs.30 lakhs.  Altogether he has spent Rs.2.5 lakhs on the ‘moving fantasy’.

While Janees made elaborate comparisons of the 2 cars using photographs and computer, an equal if not more credit for the beautification should go to Ramesh, an ordinary mechanic in Mohan’s Workshop at Thrissur.  Without the aid of dyes and castings, using hammer alone as his simple implement, this talented worker had given to the body panels a finish that one wouldn’t expect from such a method.  And it is this finish that gives the car the appearance of the ‘other’.

Janees, who is running a battery and inverter manufacturing unit at Thrissur, is interested in providing such customization on commercial basis.
