When 8-year-olds bunk classes and sit at home, what could be the reason? If they are twins Vineeth and Vivek of A.L.P.School, Njekkili,  Thirumeni, Cherupuzha, Kannur, you can be sure that they are busy authoring their book of adventures.

These children of teacher-couple James and Mini, have already written 2 novels, ‘Lion Fossil’ by Vineeth and ‘Monster Street’ by Vivek.  Among these, ‘Lion Fossil’ is being serialized in ‘Pravasi’, a magazine from the Gulf.

Even as students of 1st standard, they shocked the school by contributing their own writings for the in-house magazine.  As the parents came to know of their sons' love of reading and writing, they supplied the children with books.  Soon the would-be authors graduated from mini stories to classics and then to reading Sherlock Homes and Dracula.

Others may have been shocked after reading the 3rd standard student’s novel, but the parents were first shocked when Vineeth announced his desire to write a novel.  As no amount of persuasion could convince him to change the genre of writing, they were resigned to seeing the horror novel of their son.

It took Vineeth 3 months to complete the work. Sometimes the duo used to write throughout the day and sometimes the whole night.  For most part, there was no need to revise the draft manuscript.  The locations of the plot are in foreign countries, which they finalized after going through the atlas.  The illustrations too have been done by the duo themselves.  Although the novels are in Malayalam, the authors are quite convinced that English titles are more effective for their works.

They are fond of magic and have written another book titled ‘Blood of Magic Colony’ based on magic.
