He can be introduced either as the person who can play the most number of musical instruments or someone who has the know-how to recreate 7000 such instruments.

Joseph, alias Joy, Director of Joy Music Traditional Art and Research Centre, Kunnukuzhi, Thiruvananthapuram, has dedicated his effort to the collection of rare musical instruments and recreation of historical ones.  In his house one could view and hear musical instruments one has never seen or heard so far.  Joy is ever ready to share his knowledge about their past and history. 

It has been established that the musical instruments of Kerala, made from coconut and bamboo number above 300.

Joy is the son of erstwhile court musician of Travancore, Valerian Fernandez.  His wife Beena died last year.  His only son Jovin is a student of B.Com at present.

Guinness Book has accepted in principle his claim to recreate and play about 7000 musical instruments.  They are likely to verify his claim during the exhibition of these instruments proposed to be held During January 27 – February 12, 2003.
